Hypochlorous Acid (abbreviated to HOCI) is a naturally occurring substance - it is even made within the human body by white blood cells to fight off infection! HOCI is a highly effective bleach alternative. It may reside in the chlorine family, but its chemical structure and neutral PH make it a safer, non-toxic, less fuming, and faster antimicrobial agent than its highly alkaline cousin, bleach. Hypochlorous acid has even been used to sanitize and disinfectant within hospitals, where its neutral PH is much gentler on delicate equipment. HOCl is 80-100x more potent than bleach, and has been proven to kill common foodborne pathogens like E. coli, Salmonella, and Listeria, as well as norovirus influenza, RSV, and COVID. HOCI is also compliant with CDC, FDA, and EPA regulations. HOCI is allowed in Organic Production by the USDA, and is cleared by the FDA for use on meat, poultry, fish & seafood, fruits & vegetables and shell eggs as a no-rinse sanitizer.
